FETAC Level 5 Childcare/Frequently Asked Questions

Who is it designed for?

This course is intended for those who are interested in working with children and require the necessary skills and attitudes to competently work in this area; or those who already work in Childcare and require the recognised FETAC Certification in this area

What are the entry requirements?

Level 4 FETAC, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification. Students must also obtain a Garda Clearance Certificate for their work experience

What is the course duration?

The course runs for 12-18 months, depending on each individual student. Participants must also complete a minimum of two documented weeks of work experience with children as part of the course

Is there an exam to be taken?

Certification is based on a number of modular exams, along with on-going assignments and assessments

Who certifies the course?

Upon completion of this course you will receive a FETAC Level 5 Major Award, the certification recognised and required for working with children in Ireland
